NEWLY ELECTED DELTA PSP PRESIDENT, ADJEKUKO APPEALS TO GOVT FOR CAPACITY BUILDING OF MEMBERS

The newly elected Delta State   President of   Private Sector Participants  (PSP) in  Waste Management, Comrade Lucky Adjekuko has appealed to the State Government to assist members of the PSP in the State in capacity building just as he promised to run all inclusive Government.

Comrade Adjekuko who was recently elected in Sapele, Headquarters of Sapele Local Government Area of the State, speaking to our correspondent after his victory at the election, appealed to the Delta State Government to try and upgrade the PSP in terms of capacity building so that it will be more effective and efficient in discharging its responsibilities to Deltans.

Comrade Adjekuko who until his election as State President was the Uvwie PSP Chairman described his victory as an act of God and called on all members of PSP in the State to join hands with him to move the PSP to the next level.

He said; “I have been in PSP for over Fifteen. First I have passion for the job and if you have a passion for the job you are doing, you will progress because your mindset is on that job. You will always want to be the best in the job.

“So being a Chairman of Uvwie PSP and now the Delta State President of PSP, I will make sure I bring my experience to bear both the technical knowledge and the financial aspect to make sure Delta State is clean because we need clean Delta, we need clean environment in the state and we have a Governor that has a passion for clean environment and we will make sure that we support the State Government in making the state a better place for all Deltans.”

He appealed to Deltans to cooperate with all the PSP personnel in all the 25 Local Government Areas of the state, adding that they should expect a clean environment and enlightenment campaigns from his administration.

“We will try our best to make sure our environment is clean, to enlighten the people to see the need for clean environment because you know unclean environment causes a lot of diseases.. We need to encourage our profession. When we started this job, we called ourselves refuse collectors but now we are waste managers we have upgraded.

“Deltans should expect us, in collaboration with the State, Local Governments and all stakeholders, to make sure our environments are clean. We cannot do it alone we need the cooperation of the government and public (residents, hotel owners, filling station owners, shop owners, supermarket owners, petty traders, garages) we expect cooperation from all of them,” Comrade Adjekuko said.

He called on his colleagues to join hands with him to move PSP in the State forward, adding that he will run an all inclusive government.

He said: “My Government will be all inclusive. I will bring everybody on board. I will not do a winner takes it all. I pray God to give me wisdom, understanding and strength to pilot the affairs of the PSP in the State to the delight of everyone.All hands must be on deck so that we can move Delta State forward in terms of waste collection and making Delta State a clean place”.

The State PSP President also appealed to residents in the state to always cooperate with the PSP saying that they need them to keep the state clean and hygienic.

“First, Deltans need sensitization in educating them on the importance of PSP removing your waste and you paying for it. Some will look at the price as outrageous. The price is not outrageous for example someone living in a flat or a duplex, a shop owners, eateries house and the rest, the prices are affordable.

“I will advise them to contact PSP management in their area in order for PSP to dispose their waste. For instance if you are living in a bungalow and you are paying #1,000 per month, you can afford it. If you are living in a two bedroom flat, a thousand naira is not bad for your waste to be disposed in a month because it will make you look more decent in the society even in the compound you live”.
