BISHOP AFAREHA CHARGES CHRISTIANS TO BE COMMITTED TO THE GOSPEL
Christians have seen charged to be more committed to the gospel of Christ and to bear fruits that will last.
This charge was given by the Catholic Bishop of Warri diocese, Most Rev. John Afareha at the Ascension Catholic Church, Ekpan while celebrating the Parish feast day and confirmation of candidates with the sacrament of confirmation.
According to Bishop Afareha the candidates having been confirmed should avail themselves of the opportunities that comes with the sacrement, adding that they should be better Christians, even as he urged them to win souls to Christ through their conducts and the lives they live.
The Catholic Bishop enjoined the newly confirmed to be prepared to work for Christ through the church. He urged them to be involved in their church activities, and must be obedient to the church in all its ramification.
While administering, the sacrament, the Catholic Bishop enjoined the one hundred and thirty candidates to make use of the gift of the Holy Spirit which they have received and should be true soldiers of Christ in their day to day living, even as he changed them to be belong to pious group in the church and be active in all Parish activities.
Also speaking the Parish Priest of Ascension Catholic Church Ekpan, Rev. Fr. Anthony Anenene thanked God for the triple celebration saying the day was a great day for the Parish and parishioners as they celebrate the feast of Ascension, the Parish feast day and confirmation of candidates with the sacrament of confirmation.
He thanked the Bishop of the Diocese for the honour done to the Parish with the confirmation of candidates and the parishioners for all their effort for making the mass and the celebration a success.
The candidates were very happy and promised to put to work the sacrament they have received, even as they also promised to be better Christians and good soldiers of Christ.
