The Comrade Sheriff Mulade campaign organisation on Thursday received a boost as it received over one thousand APC decampees to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on behalf of the chairman of the Delta State PDP.
The former APC decampees who were led by the former leader of the APC, Mr Martin’s Amakiri, said they decided to decamp to the PDP because of the love and respect they have for Comrade Mulade, adding that Comrade Mulade has done a lot for the youths of the Niger Delta as an environmentalist.
Amakiri who spoke on behalf of the decampees at the occasion said that the APC has failed them because the change they promised the people was not a good change, adding that with the likes of Comrade Mulade in the PDP the people of the constituency will have nothing to regret.
Amakiri said, “Mulade has done well for our youths and he has been there for us. As an environmentalist and activists, Comrade Mulade has touched our lives in different ways and this is why we believe that if given the opportunity to represent our people at the State House of Assembly, he is going to deliver the dividends of democracy to the doorstep of the people.
“I want to appeal to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his deputy, Kingsley Otuaro to ensure that there is going to be a free and fair election during and after the primaries. We need credible people like Comrade Sheriff Mulade in the House to lead us. It is because of the faith that we have in Comrade Sheriff Mulade that is why we are decamping to the ruling pdp in the state.”
Comrade Mulade who received the decampees at an enlarged gathering of Ogbe-Ijoh market women in Warri, assured them that Governor Okowa is a listening governor and had promised the people free and fair election throughout the state, welcoming them to the PDP.
Addressing the market women and NPA women during the occasion, Comrade Mulade said that after going round all leaders in Warri South West he has decided to gather the women to inform them about his ambition to run for the Delta State House of Assembly race to represent Warri South West constituency.
Comrade Mulade said the reason why he decided to talk to the market women was because of their role in politics, stressing that a lot of women participate in politics and therefore cannot be taken for granted.
He said that his number one priority if given the opportunity to represent his people at the House is to make sure that the Ogbe-Ijoh market is rehabilitated to become a world class market in the State.
Comrade Mulade said, “We honor women in our communities and that is why we have decided to gather all the women here today after we have gone round to visit some of the leaders in the consistency.
“The Ogbe-Ijoh market is our pride and the market women have a role to play. This is not how the market is supposed to be. Many people in the past have promised you that they are going to build the market, but that have not been able to build the market. They have not told us why they cannot build the market.
The building of the market will be our major priority when I get to the house because the market belongs to the Ogbe-Ijoh people and it is everybody that goes to the market.
“Governor Okowa is a listening governor and when we speak to him, he will listen to us and we are going to build this market. We are not only going to build the market, we are also going to give the market women and little support to grow their businesses since most of you are petty traders.”
Responding on behalf of the market women, the market women leader,
Mrs Temi Werinide, assured Comrade Sheriff Mulade of their support, adding that when the time comes they are going to give him all the support he needs.
The market women thanked Comrade Mulade for deeming it fit to remember them and according them their space, noting that Comrade Mulade is the first politician to have invited them to tell them about his political aspiration. They also prayed for the success of Comrade Mulade in his quest to becoming the Warri South West representative.
