Dissolve DIPA Exco now or jeorpadize your 2019 aspiration, Ijaw group to Okowa
An Ijaw group under the auspices of the Warri South West Ijaws entertainment forum (WSWIEF) have called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State to as a matter of urgency dissolve the newly constituted Delta Ijaws Political Assembly (DIPA) or put his second term ambition in jeopardy.
The group in a statement signed by Comrade Felix Ycom Yerinbowei and Comrade Quinton Tekedor, President and Secretary of WSWIEF respectively, the forum said they will not accept DIPA because “the exco is dead on arrival, ill-equipped, sentimental” and was not properly formed, adding that the notice for the unveiling and inauguration of DIPA was too short.
The group stated that, “Our candid advise is that our amiable governor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa should advise and address whomever is behind this unaccepted DIPA which they want to use to execute their autocratic godfatherism oppression agenda, to back of because, 75℅ of the Delta state Ijaws are ready to back of from PDP if DIPA is not suspended for now to make the race for the 2019 general elections in the State for all aspirants to be transparent as promised the people by the Governor.”
The group further stated that, “because of their own (DIPA’s) self interest agenda notice of invitations were made secret and selective to project their candidates for 2019. We want to strongly appeal and call on our amiable Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for the interest of our party, to call them DIPA to order because it may affect the victory of our party. It is worthy of note that any attempt to impose political errands as candidates will be vehemently resisted for the interest of our people particularly Warri South West.”
They said that though they were ready to support PDP, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his deputy, Barrister Kingsley Burutu Otuaro for second term because of the Governor’s transparent smart agenda, if DIPA and her executive are not dissolved, it will affect and destroy the transparent smart agenda which will equally affect the second term aspiration of the State governor.
The group stressed that they stand for popularity, credibility and accountability and not godfatherism, which they alleged, the new DIPA executive stands for.
The statement reads in part:
“Therefore, if DIPA is to be created as the Delta Ijaws Political Assembly, we believe it should be for the betterment of the party PDP and our great governor Dr Ifeanyi Okowa by perfecting his smart agenda with transparency, popularity, credibility and accountability not to destabilize the transparent smart agenda people do believe in with their own self interest ambitions.
“If (DIPA) is created for the perfection of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s smart agenda which are in line with transparency, popularity, credibility and accountability. The exco would have not be formed without considering the entire kingdoms in the six Ijaw local governmentsb areas in Delta state.
“There would have been no two brothers in the exco. There would have been a proper sensitization and quick notice or information before the unveiling and inauguration of the so called DIPA that they want to use to perfect and enrich their self interest and not Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s smart agenda.
