ASABA 2018: Obi Lists Benefits To NURTW

AS Deltans lists benefits derived from hosting the 21st Africa Senior Athletics Championship (ASAC) tagged Asaba 2018, Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Delta State Council, Chief Ifeanyi Obi has said the multiplier benefits of hosting such a continental event cannot be quantified.

Chief Obi in Asaba, stated that members of NURTW were actively involved in moving commuters from one location to the other, disclosing that the drivers were enlightened to ensure that they project the state and the country in good light while carrying out their duties.
According to him, “we cannot wait for Asaba to host another event of this magnitude, our people, members of National Union have been thanking our Governor, Dr Okowa for creating such an opportunity for the championship to hold, he is a visdionary leader who has used this hosting to open Asaba and our state to a world of opportunities as investors and tourists will have confidence visiting the state.”
“From those who drove taxis to keke riders are thanking God for giving us Dr Okowa, our Governor has placed our state as one that can successfully host an international event, everywhere was peaceful, the visitors patronized our markets and they moved around freely, enjoying themselves as Africans,” he said.
Chief Obi continued, “our Governor has done so much for us, the roads are fixed and the drainages he has constructed will make our vehicles to have longer lifespan as they will no longer pass through flooded roads; our Governor also put up great showing at the 40th anniversary celebration of NURTW in Abuja.”
Chief Obi who also commended the National President of NURTW, Alhaji Najim Usman Yasin for organising the 40th anniversary, observed that Deltans showed wonderful outing at the ceremony with Governor Okowa represented at the event by his Political Adviser, Chief Festus Ochonogor.
