Asaba International Airport gets approval to commence international flights
Delta State Commissioner for Information, Ogbueshi Patrick Ukah, Friday said the Asaba international airport has gotten approval to commence International flights airport, following its upgrade.
Ukah who made the disclosure when he received the newly posted General Manager of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Asaba, Mr. Richard Yaboh, and his management team paid him a coutesy visit in his office in Asaba, said the first set of passengers, the Super Eagles of Nigeria has been airlifted to South Africa to play the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in their AFCON qualifying game.
While reiterating the state government’s commitment to synergise with media organizations to move the state forward, he commended the NTA station for airing the state’s SMART Move and SMART Delta.
The Information Commissioner appealed to the station to improve on getting news about the state to the national network level, saying that the state government was working assiduously to develop the state at all level. “It is NTA network news that tells the world the story,” he said.
Ukah assured NTA management of the state government’s continued support, saying that as the economy of the state improves, the government would also increase its quarterly assistance to the national network media House. “We want to see how the state and NTA can collaborate”, he added.
Earlier, the new General Manager of NTA, Asaba, Mr. Yaboh thanked the State Government for its quarterly assistance to the station and appealed to the state government to improve on it especially to assist in the replacement of some obsolete equipment to enable the station transmit the forthcoming 2019 general elections effectively.
Those present at the meeting were the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Mr. Paul Osahor, the General Manager of DBS, Asaba, Lady Evelyn Binitie, Functioning General Manager, Pointer newspapers, Mr. Celestine Ofuani, the Director, Department of Publications and Production, Mr. Donald Obuseh, the Media Assistant to the Commissioner, Mr. Ijeh Sam, among others.
