A coalition of over 20 youth groups in the Niger Delta region has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s outstanding support to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The youths specifically praised the leadership of the NDDC under Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, describing it as a “round peg in a round hole.”
The youth groups, including the Crusaders for Niger Delta Community Development (CNDCD) and the Niger Delta Youth Coalition for Peace and Progress (NDYCPP), made their positions known after a stakeholders’ meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. They had embarked on a tour of various projects undertaken and completed by the current NDDC board, expressing their impressive satisfaction with the progress made.
The communique issued by the youth groups highlighted the NDDC’s people-oriented projects, which have positively impacted the lives of Niger Delta residents. They praised the commission’s efforts in the educational sector, particularly the foreign scholarship programs, which they described as fair, credible, and transparent.
The youths also commended the NDDC’s engagement with stakeholders, including state governors, ethnic nationalities, and youth bodies. They noted that the commission’s leadership has demonstrated humility and a willingness to carry everyone along, regardless of political affiliation.
Furthermore, the communique emphasized the NDDC’s focus on vocational skills training, which they believe is essential for industrialization. They cited the example of international communities, such as the Chinese, Koreans, and Egyptians, who have successfully utilized vocational skills to drive their economies.
The youth groups concluded that the NDDC’s exceptional performance under Dr. Ogbuku’s leadership has earned President Tinubu massive support from the Niger Delta region. They predicted that if the commission continues to deliver on its promises, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the 2027 presidential election convincingly.
