Delta Governor Vows to Protect Host Communities, Ensure Uninterrupted Oil Production

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of host communities and ensuring uninterrupted oil production in the state.

This stance was reiterated during a courtesy visit from the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited at Government House, Asaba.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized that his administration will not tolerate the oppression of host communities by oil companies, nor will it permit host communities to disrupt oil production.

He noted that the state’s revenue is heavily reliant on oil production, and any disruption would negatively impact the state’s economy.

The Governor commended Chevron Nigeria Limited for its contributions to the state’s economy and development, particularly in the areas of social responsibility and community development.

He encouraged the company to continue its good work, especially in providing employment opportunities for host community members.

Governor Oborevwori also highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation between oil companies and host communities, citing his own intervention in a recent community issue involving Chevron.

The Chairman and Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria Limited, Jim Swartz, expressed appreciation for the mutually beneficial relationship between the company and Delta State, highlighting their significant contributions to the state’s well-being and development.

In conclusion, Governor Oborevwori reassured investors that Delta State is open for business, with a friendly and safe environment for investments.
